Dandrazol 2% Shampoo is an anti-fungal shampoo used to treat infections of the scalp and skin such as seborrhoeic dermatitis and dandruff. As well as this, it is used to treat the skin condition pityriasis versicolor which is a skin rash that is caused by a harmless yeast-like germ.
Dandrazol shampoo is available on prescription. It can be used by adults and children over 12 years of age.
Before using this medication, please consult a doctor or one of our pharmacists if any of the following apply:
- You have ever had an allergic reaction to a particular medicine before.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You are taking any other medicines or using any other medicated skin products (including herbal and complementary medicine).

For dandruff, use the shampoo twice weekly for 2-4 weeks. Ensure your hair is wet before you apply the shampoo, massaging the lather over your scalp and leaving it in for about 5 minutes before you rinse it off. To help prevent dandruff from returning, continue use once every 2 weeks, avoiding eye contact at all times.
Dandrazol shampoo contains the active ingredient Ketoconazole 20mg/g. It also contains: Sodium laureth sulphate, disodium laureth sulphosuccinate, PEG-120 methyl glucose dioleate, PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate, imidurea, lauryldimonium hydroxypropyl hydrolysed collagen, cocamide DEA, sodium hydroxide, sodium chloride, Erythrosine (E127), hydrochloric acid and purified water.
Like all medicines, Dandrazol Shampoo can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. If you develop any of the following side effects please stop using the shampoo and tell your doctor straight away. You may need urgent medical treatment.
- Allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat which may cause difficulty in
swallowing or breathing.
- Severe irritation or reddening of the skin.
- Peeling or blistering of the skin.
- Infection of the hair roots.
- Increase in production of tears.
- Unusual hair loss or thinning.
- Dry skin, rash, or a burning feeling
- Changes in how your hair feels
- Taste impairment
- Irritation of the eyes
- Acne
- Flaking skin
- Hives (also known as nettle rash or urticaria)
- Changes in hair colour
