Vampire Facial Treatment

Vampire Facials are one of the latest and greatest boosts in skincare. This treatment is completed in one session and involves a procedure that uses your own blood platelets and plasma on your face (hence the nickname: “Vampire Facial” made popular by Kim Kardashian). The natural chemicals in your own platelets are either slathered onto your face and then micro-needled into the skin, or injected directly into the skin without the micro-needling device. Both involve a short procedure lasting no more than 40-60 minutes.

Once the plasma is in, the platelets then stimulate the production of key healing enzymes and proteins, while attracting stem cells and other beneficial agents. The result is an overall rejuvenating impact that can improve the texture and thickness of the skin while addressing such issues as wrinkling, thinness, and fine lines. It’s able to do that because PRP’s essential chemical components are designed specifically for this purpose – they can penetrate deep into wrinkles or creases where other treatments might not be as effective. Unlike some other treatments, there isn’t any downtime after treatment – you can go about life as usual right away.

What can the PRP facial treat?

– Dark circles under your eyes
– Crow’s feet around and beneath the eye area
– Wrinkled skin in the neck, chest and eyelid regions
– Large pores on the nose or cheeks
– Fine lines around your mouth
– Coarse skin texture
– Dull or grey skin tone
– Sun-damaged skin
– Acne scars

Which areas can be treated?

Wrinkles, fine lines and looser skin are all a natural part of the ageing process. As we get older, our facial skin loses elasticity and is less able to bounce back from environmental traumas such as UV rays.

Common areas people use this treatment on include:

– Areas around your eyes including eyelids
– Areas around your mouth
– Nose
– Cheeks
– Neck
– Chest

Additionally, PRP can be used as an effective hair restoration treatment for those seeking a non-surgical treatment for thinning hair or a receding hairline.

Consultation:

During your consultation with your clinician, we will discuss your desired outcome of the treatment, answer any questions you may have, and whether this is the best choice for you. Here, you can also decide whether you would prefer to have the treatment combined with Microneedling, or to be injected directly into the skin itself.

Receiving PRP Treatment:

Following your consultation, plasma or platelet concentrate is collected from you through blood from the arm. The blood is then filtered to extract a large number of platelets and plasma. The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is then injected directly into the areas discussed to catalyse the growth of new cells.

If you opted to have the treatment with microneedling, the process will be exactly the same as the standard microneedling process but with the PRP used as the lubricant, allowing the needles to push the plasma into the puncture wounds.

After treatment:

Immediately after: As a result of the injections, your skin may feel more sensitive and you might experience some swelling. You could also experience the appearance of small localised bruising at the point of puncture but all these side effects will resolve themselves in a matter of days.

3-5 days: All swelling/bruising should have subsided and your skin will be left with a post-treatment glow.

2-4 weeks: The results from the treatment will continue to be more noticeable as time goes on. This process takes time as the body is carefully forming new collagen in the skin to provide the optimum results.

1-3 Months: The full effects of the new collagen production will begin to be visible after 4-12 weeks, with maintenance treatments at six months to one year depending on the individual. However, for best results, we recommend 3 sessions within 3 months and then follow the maintenance programme.

PRP is the product of 15 years of research into tissue regeneration. It results from a large number of clinical trials that all recognise its safety and success. Over half a million patients (including celebrities) is being treated with PRP without one single adverse outcome

The results of PRP treatments can have significant effects over quite a long time. Most patients who desire long term effects choose to get three facial treatments done at monthly intervals for three months, and then maintain their results with periodic treatments every 6-12 months.

For patients who only want a single treatment, optimal results will take between 1-3 months to appear, and then gradually decrease over time. Patients should help maintain their results with a diligent at home skincare routine. Should you need advice with this we can help with a skin health consultation.

Yes, unlike many other non surgical skin solutions, PRP works well on all skin types and tones as the process used your own biological products.

Preparation for PRP is easy. Patients should avoid shaving or applying any form of topical creams to the area the day before treatment. Patients should also refrain from laser therapy and tanning beds for at least a week before their treatment. On the day of treatment, is is recommended to drink plenty of water and avoid caffeinated drinks prior to your treatment so that a good volume of blood can be collected for the procedure.
