How does Vitaros Cream Work?

The active ingredient in Vitaros cream is Alprostadil. Alprostadil belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. This is a type of medication called a vasodilator. It works by relaxing the muscles around the blood vessels in the penis. This allows more blood to flow into the penis, which causes an erection. Alprostadil also helps increase the flow of blood out of the penis, which helps keep the erection after ejaculation.

Warnings

  • Do not use this cream if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.

  • You should not use more than one dose of Vitaros cream in 24 hours. Do not use more than two doses per week.

Directions

  • Vitaros cream should be used as directed by your healthcare provider.
  • Vitaros cream is applied to the penis about 30 minutes before sexual activity.
  • Apply a small amount of cream to the head and shaft of the penis.
  • Widen the opening of the penis and massage the cream gently until it is fully absorbed.
  • Do not use it more than once a day.
  • Keep the penis straight for about 30 minutes for the medication to penetrate into the bloodstream.
  • You must wash your hands before and after interacting with the cream to avoid spreading it to unaffected areas.
  • If you experience any adverse effects while using Vitaros cream stop using it immediately and contact your doctor.
  • If you are using a condom, apply the cream first, then put on the condom.

Ingredients

  • The active ingredient in Vitaros is alprostadil.
  • The inactive ingredients are ethyl laurate, phosphoric acid, sodium hydroxide, purified water, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, ethanol among others.
