Adcal-D3 consists of vitamin D3 and calcium which are all crucial for healthy teeth and bones. It offers vitamin D3 and extra calcium to your diet. It's hence used in situations where your body needs to increase calcium and vitamin D levels. Adcal-D3 can be prescribed for specific bone conditions, such as osteoporosis. Studies have shown that consuming calcium and vitamin D3 in a lengthy period can prevent non-vertebral bone fractures like hip fractures later in life.

Warnings

Do not take Adcal-D3 if: you are allergic to its ingredients such as vitamin D3, calcium carbonate or any other ingredient. you are allergic to soya or peanut. Adcal-D3 consists of soya oil. Warnings and precautions: Contact your pharmacist prior to taking Adcal-D3. Let them know if you: The level of calcium in your urine (hypercalciuria) or in your blood is high (hypercalcemia). If you are uncertain you will be advised by your doctor. Have kidney problems. Have sarcoidosis. Have an intolerance to some sugars. Are under any other medication, even the ones you may have purchased without prescription.

Directions

How to take Adcal-D3 Always take Adcal-D3 exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your medical personnel if you are unsure. Adults, elderly, and children above the age of 12: 2 tablets taken twice a day, preferably one in the morning and another one in the evening. You should chew the tablets and not swallow whole. Children below the age of 12: Children under the age of 12 must not be given Adcal-D3.

Ingredients

Per tablet: Calcium carbonate: 1500mg equivalent to 600mg of elemental calcium Colecalciferol: 400iu equivalent to 10?g vitamin D3 Adcal-D3 Chewable Tablets also contain soya oil and sucrose.

Side Effects

Possible side effects Like any other medicine, it can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Frequency is not known:

  • Allergic reactions including itching, rash, wheezing, swelling of the throat or tongue. If you developed an allergy stop taking the medicine and contact your pharmacist immediately.
Other side effects include:
  • Constipation, feeling sick, wind, stomach ache, diarrhoea and skin rash. Hypercalcaemia or hypercalciuria.
