Ella One contains the hormone ulipristal acetate. It helps prevent the release of eggs from the ovaries during ovulation. It also reduces the chances of a fertilised egg implanting in the womb.
Without the egg being fertilised and embryo implantation, a woman's pregnancy cannot take place.
