Elleste Solo tablets are a combination form of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). They are used in the treatment of menopause symptoms. It has an active ingredient, which acts as an emulation of the female sex hormones - a natural version of oestrogen (estradiol).

Description

You can get the Elleste Solo medicine in two strengths, 1mg and 2mg. You are most likely to start HRT on the 1mg dose. The medicine will offer you relief from symptoms of menopausal within a few weeks of using it daily. You may see breakthrough spotting or bleeding as your body adjusts to Elleste Solo. Talk to your pharmacist or GP if this goes on after more than some months of treatment.

Warnings

You should not use Elleste Solo if you:

  • Have had breast cancer before
  • May have cancer that is sensitive to oestrogen (inclusive of uterine cancer)
  • Have endometrial hyperplasia that's not yet treated
  • Have had a blood clot before or are suffering from a blood clotting disorder
  • Have recently had a stroke or heart attack
  • Have unexplained vaginal bleeding
  • Suffering from porphyria
  • Have a history of liver disease
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are allergic to any of the ingredients in Elleste Duet Conti
If you've had any of the following conditions before, tell your medical officer before you take Elleste Solo:
  • Fibroids
  • Impaired liver function
  • Uterine problems including endometrial hyperplasia or endometriosis
  • Circulation problems
  • High risk of blood clots
  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Migraine
  • Gallstones
  • An autoimmune disorder
  • Asthma
  • Epilepsy
  • A history of severe allergic reactions
  • Fluid retention
  • High-fat levels in the blood
  • Obesity
  • Otosclerosis (a hereditary ear disorder)
  • A family history of breast cancer or any other oestrogen-sensitive cancer.

Directions

Elleste Solo should be taken for 28 days. If possible, you should start the medication on the first day of your monthly period. You can find information on which tablet to take next on the pill strip. Upon finishing a pack, start a new one the next day. Take the medicine at the same time each day, as indicated in the directions on the pack. Swallow the whole tablet with water. You can do this with or without food.

Ingredients

The active ingredients found in Elleste Solo include:

  • Estradiol (as hemihydrate)
Elleste Solo tablets comprise the following inactive ingredients as well to make up the whole product:
  • Lactose monohydrate
  • Maize starch
  • Povidone
  • Talc
  • Magnesium
  • Stearate
  • Macrogol 400 and hypromellose (E464)

Side Effects

Not everybody experiences side effects after taking Elleste Duet, nevertheless, if they do, they can include:

  • Nausea
  • Fluid retention
  • Headache
  • Change in libido
  • Breast tenderness
  • Breakthrough bleeding
  • Stomach cramps
Seek medical attention if the side effects become persistent or serious.
