How Does Elocon Scalp Lotion Work? Elocon scalp lotion is a prescription medication used to treat inflammation and itching of the scalp. It contains the active ingredient mometasone furoate, which is a type of steroid known as a corticosteroid. Mometasone works by stopping the release of the hormones that cause inflammation from the cells in the skin. This reduces inflammation and helps to clear up the symptoms of an infection or allergy. Directions

  • Wash your hands and dry them thoroughly before and after using Elocon scalp lotion.
  • Clean and dry the affected area before applying the ointment and rub gently until it clears.
  • Apply a thin layer of the medication once a day evenly on the affected area, spread it and rub gently.
  • Keep rubbing until the medication clears. You must not rinse it off immediately for optimum results.
  • Elocon scalp lotion is only for external use and should not be ingested or placed into contact with eyes, wounded or blistered skin.
  • Rinse with water thoroughly if it gets in.
  • Do not spread the Elocon lotion to the uninfected parts.

Ingredients

  • The active ingredient in Elocon is Mometasone furoate.
  • The inactive ingredients are phosphoric acid, hydroxypropyl cellulose, isopropyl alcohol, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, propylene glycol, and purified water.
