Xyzal tablets are available in both 5 mg and 10 mg doses and can be taken once or twice a day.

How does Xyzal Work? Xyzal tablets work by decreasing the body's reaction to allergens. It is in the class of medications called leukotriene inhibitors. The active ingredient, levocetirizine, works by blocking the effects of histamine, which is what causes many allergy symptoms. Xyzal starts working within one hour of taking it and can provide relief for up to 24 hours.

Warnings

  • If you have been diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder or liver disease, you must not use the tablet without the approval of your doctor.
  • Do not use the medication when pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Do not drive or operate heavy machinery while taking chlorphenamine because the medication can cause drowsiness and dizziness.

Directions

  • Before you start taking Xyzal tablets, read the manufacturer's patient information leaflet carefully. It will give you full instructions on how to take the medicine.
  • Xyzal tablets should be swallowed with a glass of water.
  • They can be taken either with or without food.
  • Do not chew the tablets - they must be swallowed whole.
  • Xyzal should be taken once a day in the evening, preferably before bedtime
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, then go back to taking your medicine as usual.

Ingredients

  • The active ingredient in Xyzal is Levocetirizine dihydrochloride.
  • The inactive ingredients are Hypromellose, colloidal anhydrous silica, macrogol, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate, and titanium dioxide.
